Hey Everyone

It is that time of year again!! All the chess clubs in the Kentucky area need to choosed a representative that will represent them in the Kentucky Kings event. For those unfamiliar, each year there is a tournament run that is composed of all the champions from each Kentucky chess club. Most champs qualify through a tournament of some kind held within the club. Once the champion is determined all those players will compete amongst themselves and the winner will be granted free entry into the Ky Open and a spot in the Ky Closed Championship.

The Kentucky Kings tournament has no entry and two great prizes. It will be held alongside the 2nd Saturday Lexington tournament on May 14th. So if your club wants to be included please get to choosing your representative right now.

P.S. In the event of a tie at the end of the Kentucky Kings tournament, there will be a blitz playoff. It will be the best score out of three G/5 matches. If there is a tie afterwards we'll have an armageddon match. White gets 5 minutes and Black gets 4 minutes with draw odds. Higher rated player gets choice.

So far I have representatives from the Highland Coffee shop, the Heine Bros club, and the Yussman chess club,

I still need to know if these clubs will have a representative:

E-town

Winchester

Owensboro

Lexington

I'll try to contact reps of these clubs individually to confirm if they'll have a club representative for the Kentucky Kings. Remember the Kings tourney will be held alongside the 2nd Saturday Lexington tournament on May 14th.

So people are clear, the YCC merged the Monday night club and the Wednesday night CTPE clubs under one roof. But, we don't feel we should produce 2 qualifiers.

So, Eric Yussman won the King of King's Qualifier and Randas had the most Monday Night participation. They played a match and Randas won, making him our representative!

Congratulations, Randas.

Don't you know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one wins the prize? So then, run to win!

Davis Whaley won the Kentucky Kings tournament this past Saturday.

Due to him already qualifying for the Adult Closed by being the 2015 State Champion, Randas Burns, the second place player, has qualified for the Adult Closed Championship.
