We are looking forward to our 5th Annual Mitchell Bedford Memorial chess tournament tomorrow. Thank you for your registration. As of this moment, we have 48 scholastic players registered!  And it is not too late to register into any of the scholastic or Open sections!

Mitchell Bedford was a fellow who passed away right about the time the Winchester club got started about six years ago. His family donated a all of his of chess trophies, a clock, and a lot of old Chess Life magazines to our club to help us out. He was a doctor in California (where most of his chess trophies was won) who moved back to his hometown here in Winchester in his retirement. Had he lived, I am sure he would have been a chess club regular.

The library building where we will be tomorrow can at times be a little on the chilly side temperature-wise. The Parks Department is doing all they can do to handle it to make sure the heat is felt in the morning. I think if you have a small space heater you would like to bring just for your own comfort as a backup, you are welcome to do so.
