I'm not clear whether this is "open to all" or is "scholastic only."

Don't you know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one wins the prize? So then, run to win!

Mr. Larry Bell (Lexington) asked me to pass along the following to the organizers of the Veteran's tournament.   Sounds like it was a really good event!

"I want to say this was a very special tournament for me and I am glad I decided to go at the very last minute. I recommend it to all players and especially veterans. For vets the entry fee was waived. There was a lunch spread that was awesome and it too was free. As a vet I received a goody bag with a very nice chess book in it along with Old Glory. There were banners on the walls and a cake celebrating veterans. I really felt appreciated. It was a wonderful experience and I want to shout out a big thank you to the conceptual folks and all the organizers/cooks/setup/ volunteer folks. Everyone that had a hand in putting this event on…..my hat is off to you!"  as quoted from Larry B.

Mr. Bell and Mr. Walls,

Thank you for your kind words. It was our pleasure to host this tournament and I would like to thank you for playing! Please plan on returning next year. The children had a great time and we were able to gain 10 new USCF student memberships. Thanks to everyone who played, volunteered, and cooked! We enjoyed it as much as the participants.....Stephanie
