Randas Burns is going to submit a post about this event and how all the KY players did (including special merit etc...) However, I wanted to make known that they have decided to change this event's name to "King's Island Open - Mike Anders Memorial"

I do not think there is a finer event to be named in memorial of a good friend to me.

I know Mike is in a better place now. I just thought I would share this nice gesture the Chess Congress guys did for Mike.

I agree Ryan. That was a nice gesture from Continental Chess. This was my sixth kings island open but my first without Mike Anders. He will be missed. There was a great representation from Kentucky at the event. Ryan Velez scored 3/5 including a win over a master in 17 moves! Taylor Bagley also ended the event with 2 wins and 2 draws. I upset a master in the third round. But I have to say that the best performance was by our very own Glenn O'Banion. He scored 3.5/5 without losing until the final round. Unfortunately Glenn informed me that this tourney would be his last out of state. If it is Glenn then that was one heck of a way to end it. Hope to see you on Mondays sometime.
